Share your memories of the Hudson River while The Cube is here!
Sign up in advance to tell your story (1-10 minutes) sharing a memory of the Hudson River. All recorded memories will be added to the Hudson River Maritime Museum’s collections and made available online to the public.
To share your story please contact Sarah Wassberg at firstname.lastname@example.org or 845-338-0071 ext. 16. Time slots will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Don’t want to tell a story? Come to visit The Cube and hear oral history stories from Hudson River commercial fishermen, digitized as part of the grant-funded Voices of the Hudson Valley Project in partnership with Sound and Story Project of the Hudson Valley, Somers Historical Society, Nyack Library, New Rochelle Public Library, and the Home of Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site.
Know someone who has great stories about the Hudson River who might like to do a full-length interview? Send their information to Sarah (email@example.com) and we’ll contact them about the possibility of setting up an interview.
Because The Cube will be inside the museum, those signed up to share stories will get in free with discounted museum admission for all other visitors.
The Cube is a custom-built, sound-proof, portable recording studio designed to record new oral histories. It is owned by the Sound and Story Project of the Hudson Valley and was funded as part of the Voices of the Hudson Valley Project, a three-year grant funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services designed to digitize and share old oral history collections from five institutions in the Hudson River Valley.
