Programs

A variety of programs and events have been established and are continuing to evolve. Many are cooperative with other not-for-profits and regional organizations. They are focused on the permanent collection, archives and exhibitions – reflecting the historic Rondout waterfront and Hudson River.

We serve as home to the Kingston High School Crew Team, Rondout Rowing Club and Kingston Sailing Club. Our docking facilities are used by touring vessels for both the Rondout and Esopus-Meadows Lighthouses.

The Hudson River Sloop Clearwater will be adopting Kingston as its winter Home Port in 2012 – entering into an alliance for education and revitalization of Kingston’s historic waterfront. This partnership will serve as a vibrant model for the entire Hudson Valley region. Riverkeeper maintains its Kingston office presence within the Museum as well.

Visiting Vessels
Learn about the river’s history by observing and touring replica and restored vessels. Throughout the year, visiting heritage and replica vessels, cruise ships, restored boats and barges and even Coast Guard ice cutters dock at the Museum for routine maintenance or for a respite during their journey.

Events and Festivals
We organize and host seasonal events and festivals which reflect the mission of the Museum. Among these are “River Day”, “Steamboat Days”, and “Antique and Classic Boats”.
