nonprofit educational organization committed to the preservation and interpretation
of the history of the Hudson River Valley.
Clermont State Historic Site Clermont was the Hudson River seat of the politically and socially prominent Livingston family of New York for more than 230 years. Olana State Historic Site Named for a fortress treasure-house in ancient Persia, Olana was the home of Frederic Edwin Church (1826-1900), one of America's most important artists, a student of Thomas Cole, and a major figure in the Hudson River School of landscape painting. Kingston Sailing Club coordinates and hosts weekly sailboat races for its members on the Hudson River, near Kingston, New York. There is a spring and fall series of 16 races each, including the annual Spinnenweber Cup in late spring and the Maritime Cup Race in the fall. Norrie Point Sailing Club An active sailing organization providing the opportunity to develop and sharpen sailing skills in a causal racing environment. Hudson River Rowing Association was formed in 1998 as a rowing organization dedicated to uniting the current existing rowing clubs in the Poughkeepsie area in order to preserve and enhance the future of the sport of crew in this region. Rondout Rowing Club Located on the Rondout Creek in Kingston, New York, the Rondout Rowing Club was formed in 1999 by some folks who wanted to row and bring rowing to the community. The Mid-Hudson Rowing Association (MHRA) offers public access to organized rowing in the Mid-Hudson region and provides programs that serve a range of age-groups and individuals. MHRA operates in Poughkeepsie, New York at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center waterfront property at the foot of Clearwater Drive, approximately one-half mile north of Marist College. Atlantic Kayak Tours is an experienced sea-kayaking company specializing on the Hudson Valley. Hudson River Rafting Company Rafting, Kayaking, & Tubing on five New York State Rivers State Council on Waterways Dedicated to the Revitalization and Preservation of New York's Waterways. Antique and Classic Boat Society The purpose of the Antique and Classic Boat Society (ACBS) is the preservation of all types of antique and classic boats, non-power, power or sail. Hudson River Watertrail Formed in 1992 as an all-volunteer group with the goal of developing a water trail providing overnight facilities every 10-12 miles from the mouth of the Hudson River to the Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence Seaway. Beacon Sloop Club and the Woody Guthrie The Beacon Sloop Club's pride & joy is the "WOODY GUTHRIE" , a wooden replica of a Hudson River Ferry Sloop. Launched in 1978, her purpose is to promote the beauty and wonder of the Hudson River by offering free sails to the public and sail training to volunteers. Acclaimed as "the landscape that defined America" by the National Park Service, the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area was established by Congress in 1996 to recognize, preserve, protect, and interpret the nationally significant history and resources of the valley for the benefit of the nation. Extending from Waterford, just north of Albany, to the northern border of New York City, the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area encompasses over 4 million acres. The region is home to 2.5 million residents, five National Historic Sites, 58 National Historic Landmarks, 89 historic districts, and over 1,000 sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
