Foundations of Woodworking: Woodworking Tools - Their Use and Care - October 10-11, 2018
In the second class of the Foundations of Wood series, students will learn about the tools in a basic woodworking kit, including layout tools, saws, chisels, and planes. Each tool will be examined, its use and proper handling demonstrated, tool maintenance including fine tuning and sharpening, and where to find good tools. Students are encouraged to bring their own tools for examination.
Instructor: Michael Puryear is a furniture maker, studio designer, and teacher with 30 years of experience. He has taught college-level courses and has built a number of small wooden craft.
Prerequisite:Understanding Wood, or at the discretion of the instructor.
Dates: (2 Classes): Wednesday & Thursday, October 10-11, 2018. 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
Price: $150 for HRMM members (Household level & above), $175 for non-members.

Foundations of Woodworking (FoW) is a series of four classes designed to give beginner woodworkers background knowledge and skills in wood science, woodworking tools, joinery, and shop safety. In the future, these classes may be required for more advanced coursework. Students will receive a discount for registering for all four classes.
