Dear friends,
It certainly does feel as if we are at sea, and weathering a storm of unique proportions. We hope that you and your families and friends are healthy and coping with this new reality.
The Hudson River Maritime Museum has joined cultural heritage organizations throughout New York State and the world in temporarily closing our doors to the public in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This was done to protect our staff, members, volunteers and our visitors. Although we do not know how long this pandemic will last, we take heart from the example of the Hudson River’s lighthouse keepers. Living in isolation, keeping the lights burning, and working to protect all who navigate our waterways. Indeed, lighthouse keepers serve as our inspiration for life under social distancing and quarantines.
Over the past few years HRMM has launched many new educational programs , offering every manner of learning opportunities both on the water and off. Although these education programs may be temporarily cancelled or postponed , we are doing everything we can to ensure that our educational mission is fulfilled by increasing our creation of history content of the Hudson River online, free of charge – you can see more on our history blog.

- Contact your legislators to share your support for museums and make sure that museums are included in relief efforts.
