IRA Gifts

Support Our Mission with an IRA Gift (QCD)

Make a tax smart impact today.

The IRA Charitable Rollover provision is now a permanent option for donations. If you are 70 1/2, please consider making a direct rollover or QCD (qualified charitable distribution) to the Hudson River Maritime Museum. This provision allows donors to transfer (or “rollover”) money (up to $100,000) from their IRAs directly to charity, without having to recognize the transfer as income. If you are required to take a required minimum distributions (RMDs) from an IRA annually, these charitable transfers help meet your minimum distribution without the distributed monies being recognized as income. Please consult with your attorney or tax adviser for their professional advice based on your complete financial picture.

Why Give from Your IRA?
  • Tax Advantages: A Qualified Charitable Distribution can satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and is not included in your taxable income.
  • No Itemizing Needed: Even if you don’t itemize deductions, you can benefit from giving directly from your IRA.
  • Max Annual Amount: You can give up to $100,000 per year (or $200,000 per couple with separate IRAs).
  • Direct Impact: Your gift will immediately support the Hudson River Maritime Museum’s mission to connect people to the Hudson River and its watershed through education and preservation of the river’s maritime history and environment.

How to Make an IRA Gift
      1. Contact your IRA administrator:
Ask them to direct a gift from your IRA to:
                Hudson River Maritime Museum
                 50 Rondout Landing,
                 Kingston, NY 12401
                 EIN: 22-2325506

Contact person: Lisa Cline, Executive Director at [email protected] or 845-338-0071 ext. 20.

      2. Let us know: IRA administrators often send checks without donor information.
Please notify us of your gift so we can thank you and ensure it goes to the right place!
