KINGSTON, N.Y. -- The Hudson River Maritime Museum will offer a diverse lineup of public programs throughout September, including live music, historic tours, a documentary screening, family entertainment, sailing, and hands-on woodworking classes.

September Highlights

September 5, 7 p.m. — David Coller & Diane Chodkowski: An Evening of Folk & Maritime Music. The month begins with an evening of folk, bluegrass, and maritime music featuring David Coller and Diane Chodkowski. The program includes original songs, folk favorites, and traditional sea shanties. Tickets are $25, or $22.50 for HRMM members.

September 13, Noon–3 p.m. — Brunch and Learn with the Reher Center. HRMM and the Reher Center will partner for an afternoon exploring two important Kingston historic sites. The program begins with a noon tour of the Reher Center, followed by a 1 p.m. tour of the Hudson River Maritime Museum. Admission is $28.

September 19, 7 p.m. — Seven Sentinels: Lighthouses of the Hudson River. HRMM will screen its documentary, Seven Sentinels: Lighthouses of the Hudson River. The film explores the history of the seven remaining Hudson River lighthouses and the people who lived and worked in them. The documentary was commissioned and produced by HRMM and directed, filmed, and edited by Jeff Mertz of Moonbow Imaging. Tickets are $12 general admission and $8 for HRMM members.

September 26, 2 p.m. — Hudson River Hooray! Concert for Kids. Families are invited to an interactive concert with Emily Music for Kids featuring songs about boats, fishing, paddling, sailing, and the Hudson River. Children are encouraged to sing, dance, and participate. Tickets are $9 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.

Ongoing and Seasonal Programs

HRMM's High School Sailing Club begins its fall session September 10 for students ages 13–17 from Dutchess and Ulster Counties. The six-session program, offered in partnership with River Connect, introduces young sailors to the Hudson River and develops sailing skills through after-school instruction.

The museum's Woodworking School will also offer several hands-on classes during September, including Intro to the Router on September 18, Make a Live Edge Table on September 20, Pen Turning on September 25, and Wooden Spoon Carving on September 26.

Visitors can also experience the Hudson River aboard Solaris, HRMM's 100% solar-powered tour boat, with seasonal cruises and programs continuing into the fall.

The Hudson River Maritime Museum is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the maritime history of the Hudson River, its tributaries and related industries. In addition to extensive collections documenting maritime transportation, industry, recreation, and natural science, the museum offers classes and programs at its Woodworking School, Sailing and Rowing School, and aboard Solaris, the 100% solar powered tour boat and floating classroom. Now in its 46th year, HRMM is located along the historic Rondout waterfront in downtown Kingston.
