Henry Hudson’s Timeless River

Henry Hudson's Timeless River: An Artistic Journey Along Hudson's Route from New York Harbor to Albany

"Henry Hudson's Timeless River: An Artistic Journey Along Hudson's Route from New York Harbor to Albany," is a temporary art exhibit by watercolor artist Raymond Curran.  Artist Ray Curran showcases a collection of new paintings inspired by the voyage of Henry Hudson in 1609. Depicting modern-day locations of Hudson’s historic stops along the river, “Henry Hudson’s Timeless River” invites the viewer to contemplate the timelessness and changes to the Hudson River in the last 400 years.

Art has been an avocation and obsession throughout Ray's life and became a full time second career in recent years. Beyond various drawing and painting courses in college Ray studied art in New York City at the Art Student League and Parsons School of Design. He later also studied at the Woodstock School of Art.

After living and working in Europe and New York City for decades Ray moved ‘up river’ to the Mid-Hudson area and to Kingston where he worked in an old converted factory (The Shirt Factory) which is exclusively dedicated to artist and craftsman. Now he works in his own studio in Olivebridge, NY where he has his home. Since 2009 he has had solo shows in numerous venues including the Arts Society of Kingston, the Hudson River Maritime Museum, and the Clearwater Home Port Center in Kingston, as well as being in several group and juried shows in the Mid-Hudson region. He has been the recipient of various awards for his work.

Ray is a founding member and vice president of the Kingston Midtown Arts District in Kingston, NY.  (www.madkingston.org)
