This exhibit is supported in part by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Hudson River Estuary Program.

Introducing The Hudson River Maritime Museum Climate Change Exhibit: A Resource for Educators
Co-hosted by the Mid-Hudson Teachers Center
Friday, May 20, 2022
4:30 PM to 7:30 PM | Hudson River Maritime Museum

Hudson River Maritime Museum, on the Rondout in Kingston NY, has launched its new exhibit, "Warning Signs: Climate Change in the Hudson Valley". It represents a new addition to the museum which continues to build local educational resources that focus on the impact of climate change. The signs of climate change are evident both globally and right here in the Hudson Valley, and it's essential for students to have an accurate understanding of the findings and implications of climate science. This workshop will provide teachers with a basic understanding of climate science, and explore ways to integrate topics from the HRMM exhibit into their curriculum. During the three-hour workshop they will tour the new interactive indoor/outdoor exhibit, as well explore the Rondout Creek and Hudson River aboard Solaris, the museum's 100% solar-powered tour boat and floating classroom.

Lecture: "Warning Signs: Climate Change in the Hudson Valley"
Russ Lange and Meg Clark, Museum Educators
Wednesday, May 25, 2022
7:00 PM | Hybrid Lecture: In-Person at the Wooden Boat School AND Virtual Via Zoom

Russ Lange and Meg Clark discuss how climate change will affect us here in the Hudson Valley. The signs of climate change are all around us; rising sea levels, more frequent and severe storms, heatwaves, and droughts are becoming the norm both globally, and right here in the Hudson Valley. Scientists warn that we must take significant action this decade to save ourselves from the most serious consequences of a warming earth. Learn what the HRMM is doing to educate the public about the causes, consequences, and actions that we can take to meet this challenge with its new exhibit, Warming Signs: Climate Change in the Hudson Valley. Participants will have the opportunity to tour both the new indoor and outdoor exhibits which are scheduled to open in June. Russ Lange and Meg Clark talk about how climate change will affect us .
