Ways to Make an Impact

The Hudson River Maritime Museum is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization which relies upon donations and memberships for daily operations. The museum does not receive any municipal, state, or federal funding, except through competitive, project-based grants.

Whether you choose to become a member, make a one-time or recurring gift, become a business supporter, or volunteer your time, your generosity makes a direct impact and helps to strengthen our mission.

​Annual donations and memberships:
  • Keep the museum open year-round
  • Support the preservation, storage, digitization, and interpretation of our historic artifacts, documents, and photos 
  • Support low-cost school field trip and education programs
  • Support free and low-cost youth boatbuilding, sailing, and rowing programs
  • Keep our public festivals like Hudson River Day free of charge to the general public
  • Keep our popular lecture series free of charge to the general public
  • Allow us to offer free admission for active-duty military and their families through the Blue Star Program
  • Support annual exhibits and upgrades to our permanent exhibits
  • Allow us to offer free water access to kayakers and canoers
  • Allow us to host the Rondout Rowing Club, Kingston High School Crew Team, the Kingston Sailing Club, and the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater as our community partners

Volunteer

Volunteers are the lifeblood of HRMM – they give tours, lead school groups, staff the gift shop, help with public events, build things, do yard work, move docks, and make our campus a wonderful place to visit and work. ​

Memorial

Give Stocks & Funds

Donating stock is one of the most efficient and tax beneficial ways to make an impactful gift to the museum. If you or your broker have questions about this process, please call us at 845-338-0071.

Donate a Boat

Do you have a sailboat or historic vessel that you would like to donate to the museum to be sold and the funds used for general operations? HRMM’s donation program provides an opportunity for boat owners who want assurance of a meaningful future for their vessel. Donations to the museum are hassle-free, tax deductible, and provide new life and purpose for beloved vessels.
