The Parent-Child Sailing class is for parents (or grandparents, caretakers, relatives) and their children ages five to eight. The class comprises four 3-hour sessions (12 hours total) and aims to introduce children to the basics of sailing in a nurturing environment so that each student develops as a sailor while making new friends and having new experiences.
Morning classes (9 am to noon) are for five- and six-year-olds with their adults, and afternoon classes (1 - 4 pm) are for seven- and eight-year-olds with their adults. Classes are designed for one adult and one child to sail together. No prior sailing experience is necessary.
Series 1 -June 29 - July 2, 2026; Series 2 - August 17 - 20, 2026.
Tuition per participant is $425 per individual.
Both adult & child must register.

REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS WILL OPEN at noon, FEB. 2

Join us this summer for an exciting all-day youth program combining the considerable strengths and history of the Hudson River Maritime Museum, now in its 47th year! The HRMM Voyager Program offers a truly unique and hands-on opportunity for young participants to learn sailing and boat construction while exploring key concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM).

Open to all skill levels, our Seafarers (9-12 years old) and Navigators (13-17 years old) will spend each day sailing for three hours, practicing boat building and woodworking for 90 minutes, and participating in other STEAM activities involving history, crafts, games, and tours on our solar tour boat, Solaris, all while fostering learning, friendship, and adventure. Seafarers and Navigators will come together for a mid-day lunch onshore.

The Voyager Camp will run for six consecutive one-week sessions, with each session meeting Monday to Friday, 9 am to 4 pm. The first session begins on July 6, 2026.  The last session concludes on August 14, 2026.
Students are welcome to register for one, two or more sessions as there will be new material each session.

Voyagers is an official camp, certified by the Ulster County Department of Health. The Department of Health requires all camp participants to be immunized with all vaccines required for NY State public school attendance.
Written proof of vaccination must be submitted to our Health Director two weeks or more before the start of camp.
Find information on required vaccines here:
Vaccines and Immunization

Tuition is $795 per session for the general public. HRMM members receive a 10% discount.

The program is led by professional shipwrights, museum educators, and US Sailing Certified Instructors who help participants explore how STEAM principles apply in the woodshop, on the water, and in a variety of land-based environments.

Registration for Voyager 2026 will open at noon on February 2, 2026
